Ophelie Winter comes roaring back with "Resurrection"

Paris, France—Ophelie Winter’s new album, “Resurrection,” is a collection of 12 songs about renewal, rebirth, and, like the title says, resurrection. Recorded in France, the album hit the airwaves on May 19^th accompanied by the hit single “Affection,” to critical and popular acclaim, with both reaching No. 1 on the music charts. Besides singer and songwriter, Winter added another title to her musical career: producer.

“I put all my heart into this album,” Winter said. “Being a producer is a wonderful challenge, but it requires a lot of work. Everything has to be right, and I spent weeks and weeks listening to my album in the car, at home, everywhere – making sure that the songs were perfect.”

Known as the French “Queen of R’n'B”, Winter returns to the international music scene after a seven-year hiatus. The “Resurrection” album marks a return to the catchy, electro-pop songwriting that characterizes her best work, drawing comparisons to Madonna and Shania Twain. In March, she came roaring back with a new single “Affection,” garnering heavy radio play and re-establishing her unique sound and vocals on the airwaves.

“It feels great to get back in the studio and create music again,” Winter said. “My vocals are better than ever and my songwriting has matured. With ‘Resurrection,’ I feel like I’ve really grown as a musician.”

Winter also has released a video for her English-language single “Affection,” available on her site www.ophelie-winter.com. The video, filmed sensually in black-and-white, features Winters singing while lying down on a bed, evoking Madonna’s “Justify My Love” video from 1990.

“I wanted to have fun with it,” Winter said. “Sometimes, I think people forget what music is all about. To me, music is about life, love, affection, and enjoying yourself. ”

The English version of Winter’s “Resurrection” album is available in digital format at www.ophelie-winter.com with a French version to be released later. The CD is scheduled to be released in stores in September.
